Defense minister: Turkey has never forgotten its Kosovar brothers

We want you to live in peace, stability, says Hulusi Akar.

Turkey’s national defense minister was welcomed with great interest Thursday by the citizens of a Turkish town in Kosovo.

After the visit of the Presidency of the Kosovo Turkish Representative Delegation in Prizren, Hulusi Akar arrived in Mamusa, the only Turkish municipality in Kosovo.

Akar first paid a visit to the municipality and chatted with the citizens he greeted.

“We want you to live in peace, stability and in a prosperous way. Turkey has never forgotten its Kosovar brothers and cognates living here. There have been many difficulties in this geography. Our hope is that all this will end and the economic life will be much better,” he said.

Mayor Abdulhadi Krasnic said Akar gave them great pride during his visit.

“As Kosovo Turks, we have always tried to play a constructive role, not a separatist (one). We are Turks, but we are from Kosovo. We are trying to do our best for the development of the Kosovo state,” said Krasnic.

Akar later went to Ataturk High School and the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Cemetery.

Meeting with students, he celebrated the new year of the students, to whom he gifted tablet computers.
