NATO: No indication that Russia plans to attack Baltics states

There is no indication that Russia is planning to attack Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, the head of NATO’s military committee stated .

Despite the fact that tensions are rising in Eastern Europe in relation to fears that Russia will invade Ukraine, NATO believes that there is no indication that Russia is planning to attack Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

“So far, we see no intentions; we do not expect any attack from Russia against NATO territory, either directly or via Belarus,” the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, stated.

Bauer is in Lithuania on Monday. Russia is scheduled to launch a ten-day joint military exercise with Belarus later this week. As of today, there are 30,000 Russian soldiers in Belarus.

Lithuanian Army Chief of Staff Valdemaras Rupsys agrees with Bauer’s analysis, saying he “sees no direct threat either tactically or operationally at present.”

As NATO soldiers are stationed in Lithuania, it would also be “irresponsible” and “foolish” to threaten the country, Rupsys added.
