Ukraine to manufacture composite floating dock for Turkish shipyard
Ukraine’s Pallada Kherson State Plant, which is part of state-owned Ukroboronprom, will supply a composite floating dock with 8,500 tons of capacity under a new contract signed with Turkish company Hidrodinamik Shipyard.
The marine structure shall be built on modern technology — the pontoon will be made of marine reinforced concrete based on sulfate-resistant Portland cement, and the towers will be made of shipbuilding steel. This combination of materials allows to reduce maintenance costs for over 50 years, Ukroboronprom said in a statement.
All basic materials will be made in Ukraine, and the equipment — manufactured in Europe and Turkey.
Since 1968, Palada has built 43 similar docks of various modifications of which 39 of them still operate in countries around the world.
