Latvia hosts drills with NATO countries soldiers

The international exercises Namejs 2022 with the participation of about 3 thousand military personnel of the national armed forces and units from several countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are taking place on Monday in Latvia, the Baltic Republic reported.

The task of military training is to work out the interaction of national and allied forces to solve defense problems, the report says.

Military units from the UK, Lithuania, Poland, the US, the Czech Republic and Estonia are arriving in Latvia to participate in Namejs 2022. The maneuvers will also involve a forward-based NATO composite battalion stationed in Latvia, which includes units from Albania, Italy, Iceland, Spain, Canada, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic.

The Allied command sent motorized and landing units, artillery, aviation, as well as representatives of operational planning and logistics to the exercises. Namejs 2022 will be held in several stages until May 27th.
