Qatar launches fourth Al-Zubarah-Class corvette

The Qatari Ministry of Defense has launched its fourth Al Zubarah-class vessel, the Sumaysimah, in a ceremony at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri’s Muggiano shipyard.

The corvette’s launch was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Italy Khalid bin Yousef Al-Sada, Brigadier Rashid Al Qashouti, the Chief of Staff Representative of Qatar Armed Forces, Brigadier Ali Ameen, and other high-ranking officials.

Measuring 107 meters (351 feet) long by 14.70 meters (48 feet) wide, the Sumaysima is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 28 knots (52 kilometers/32 miles per hour) and can accommodate up to 112 people.

The vessel is equipped with a combined diesel and diesel plant engine.
