France, Greece sign ‘Strategic Partnership’ roadmap

France and Greece signed the roadmap for the ‘strategic partnership’ deal forging deeper military relationship between the two countries to defend shared interests in the Mediterranean.

“On January 21 during an official trip to Greece, Army General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and General Konstantinos Floros, Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Armies, signed the road declaring the strategic partnership of September 28 last year,” the French defense ministry said in a statement.

The Franco-Greek ‘strategic partnership’ unites the two countries militarily. As part of the commitments made to the EU and NATO, this partnership agreement aims to strengthen and structure long-term military defense relations between our two countries. It makes it possible to materialize bilateral Franco-Greek military cooperation at the strategic and operational levels. France and Greece thus contribute to European defense and Euro-Atlantic security by affirming in particular their attachment to freedom of air and maritime circulation in compliance with international law, the ministry said.
