The US Navy has awarded $250 million to five defense and technology firms to develop electronic warfare threat simulation and radar systems.

As part of the contract, Alion Science and Technology, Leidos, Saab, Amentum, and Scientific Research Corporation will help the service implement instrumentation to train naval aviation personnel in “network-centric warfare and battlefield scenarios.”

The tactical and electronic warfare threat systems will reportedly increase the lethality and survivability of navy pre-deployment aircrew.

According to the US Department of Defense, the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will cover research, development, upgrades, sustainment, engineering, integration, testing, and cybersecurity.

Work will be performed in Virginia, Maryland, New York, Georgia, and other locations within the continental US. It is scheduled for completion by February 2027.
