Indian Army developing new intelligence collection system for UAVs
The system, which is being developed at the Indian Army’s Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, is said to be intended to monitor radio transmissions and detect electromagnetic radiation
The Indian Army is developing an intelligence collection system that will be installed on unmanned aircraft in order to overcome difficulties in gathering intelligence on the ground in combat zones. The India Tribune newspaper reported that the system is called an “Elevated Platform for Gathering Intelligence through Electronic Support Measures (ESM)”.
The system, which is being developed at the Indian Army’s Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, is said to be intended for monitoring of radio transmissions and detection of electromagnetic radiation. The system will send the collected data to a ground-based command-and-control station that will process and analyze the data.
