Rostec’s top 5 products in 2021

In the last few decades Russia has shown considerable progress in design and creation of innovative products for all walks of life.

The expiring year, marked by a few groundbreaking novelties by Rostec, was no exception. The success of the presentation of a cutting-edge fifth-generation fighter aircraft, Checkmate, at MAKS-2021 and the aircraft’s overseas debut at Dubai Airshow-2021 will certainly be memorable for a long time. Rostec followed the trends and responded to challenges of the modern world and implemented not just military, but also digital and social projects. We look back on the most remarkable developments of the year that passed.

Fuel Cell Bus KAMAZ-6282

This year, KAMAZ, in response to the shift towards environmentally sustainable passenger transport, expanded its model range with a hydrogen bus. The hydrogen fuel cell model is equipped with six compressed hydrogen cylinders. These are mounted on the roof for safety reasons.

The overall weight of the fuel cell bus is 19 tonnes, and the capacity of the hydrogen power station is no less than 45 kW. It emits only steam and heat during operation, and refuels once per day. This environmentally friendly transport can be utilized for intercity lines, as the bus is capable of driving at speeds of up to 250 km. The fuel cell bus has been adapted for operation at temperatures between -40°C and +40°С.

Next year, testing of its prototype is to be done in real-life conditions on the streets of Moscow. The use of a fuel cell bus will reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the metropolis more than tenfold.

The Guard Anti-drone Handheld Case

The development of the Ruselectronics holding is invisible for other radars and is capable of detecting aircraft in the range of 360 degrees and determining the type of drone at a distance of up to 12 km.

As distinct from dome systems, the complex detects and eliminates UAVs under the sectoral principle. This enables one to use the anti-drone handheld case for precision suppression of specific intruding drones.

Thanks to its mobility, the system is accommodated in a few handheld cases and can be brought into the operating mode in 30 minutes.

Helicopter-type unmanned aircraft BAS-200

The development of the Russian Helicopters holding company, BAS-200, became the first ever UAV in the MAKS 2021 flight program in July this year.

With the maximum take-off weight of 200 kg the aircraft is capable of reaching speeds up to 160 km/h at altitudes of up to 3,900 meters. The BAS-200 is capable of flying up to 4 hours and transporting load of up to 50 kg.

The BAS-200 may be used for monitoring, cargo delivery, search and rescue operations, agricultural work. Flight tests of the aircraft are being conducted at present.

Serial production of glasses from 2022 is scheduled to be commenced in 2022 at Samara Electromechanical Works of Technodinamika Holding.

A Self-destructing Flash Drive

The memory chip, power and control elements are housed in a single casing of the USB-drive. By pushing a button on the side of the device the user activates an electric detonator that burns through the printed circuit board with a shaped-charge jet. The integrity of the housing is not compromised, but the recovery of digital data becomes impossible.

State Corporations and businesses, as well as general public, can order such flash drives. The amount of memory, appearance and design of the USB drive can be fully customized according to the individual preferences of the user.
